I'm an advocate of free software (free as in freedom, not free as in cost). I've been writing software most of my life; mostly in C but I also use Perl and other languages as needed. To read more about my software work, check out my
Advogato profile.
I'm an amateur photographer, or maybe it's semi-professional now that my photos are being published more often and I'm making money at it? For many years I shot 35mm film on a Canon A1 and later a Canon T90. I still use the trusty T90 occasionally but mostly I use a Canon 40D digital SLR these days. You can see
my photos on flickr. My phone camera stream is also hosted on flickr.
I enjoy debating cognitive science and theories of consciousness with robot geeks at the
Dallas Personal Robotics Group and sifting through robot news as editor for robots.net. I'm a contributing editor for Servo Magazine and Robot Magazine, who also publish my photos as well as my words. I write for assorted other magazines from time to time. If you want to know more about robots check
my robots.net profile.
I also have an interest in restoring classic video arcade games. My VAPS profile provides a list of games I'm currently maintaining. You guessed it, check out
my VAPS profile for more on this hobby.
